General education at Lanier Technical College helps students establish and expand their world view and perspective on the community at large by obtaining skills and knowledge in the following areas:

•      Communication
•      Critical thinking
•      Problem Solving 
•      Social behavior and interactions 

Instruction is provided in the disciplines of humanities, natural science and mathematics, and social and behavioral science through courses in biology, economics, English, mathematics, physics, psychology, speech, and sociology.

Some courses in the above disciplines are offered at all our locations; most of our courses are offered at Oakwood and Forsyth each quarter.

In addition to our 5 day traditional classroom classes, we offer many of our English and mathematics classes in a hybrid format, which means that you come to class a specified number of  hours on specific days, but submit your work via an internet  portal called Blackboard. In addition to these face-to-face classes, most of our courses are offered completely via the internet. These online classes are available locally and, through the Georgia Virtual Technical College, internationally.
