Special Populations provides many types of assistance to all students
and specialized assistance to special student populations *(see below).
What services
are offered?
HEROES Group Lunch Meetings (formerly the Single Parent Group) provide
participants with educational and informative presentations that
focus on topics such as:
Dress for Success, Customer Service, Business Etiquette, Techniques
for Job Interviews, Creating Your Resume, Study Skills, Time Management,
and Tax Filing Tips
Lunch is provided by the Student Government Association to those
who sign up in advance.
Consultation
and referrals to college and community resources are also available.

*Special
Populations students often have additional barriers to education.
This group includes:
- students
who are single parents or displaced homemakers
(divorced, separated, or widowed)
- students
who have lost a source of income or have been out of the
workforce may be economically disadvantaged
- students
who have limited English proficiency
- students
who are non-traditional in their programs (ex.: a
male student in the nursing program or a female student
in welding)
- students
who have special needs and would like to be a part
of this group
