- Diploma and
degree seeking students who wish to be considered for federal
(Pell) and state (HOPE) student aid should complete the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid form at the following web site: www.fafsa.ed.gov.
- Students
enrolled in certificate programs and diploma/degree seeking students
who do not wish to be considered for federal student aid should
complete an application for HOPE via the GSFAPPS (Georgia Student
Financial Aid Application System). This application may be completed
electronically at the following web site: www.GAcollege411.org.
This method of application ensures that the application has been
completed correctly, and will speed up the approval process, assuming
that all eligibility requirements have been met. This method of
application is recommended by the Lanier Technical College Office
of Financial Aid. Students who decide not to apply electronically
can download and print a paper application from the GSFC web site.
This paper application must be mailed to GSFC for processing:

- HOPE Grant/Scholarship
will pay tuition and HOPE approved mandatory fees. Technology
fees, graduation fees, malpractice insurance fees, exemption fees
and late fees are not covered by HOPE unless you authorize the
college to use your HOPE book funds to pay these allowable charges.
Banner Web online authorizations are available for financial aid
recipients who would like to apply the HOPE book allowance towards
unpaid allowable charges. Any remaining unpaid balance will be
the student's responsibility. This authorization must be completed
online via Banner Web prior to the published deadline for a specific
quarter. The online authorization will remain in effect until
the student submits a written revocation to the Business Office/Administrative
Services on the Oakwood Campus. Authorizing the fees to be deducted
from the HOPE book award reduces the amount available for purchasing
books..
- HOPE Grant
recipients must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress to maintain
eligibility.
The HOPE Grant will cover required certificate and diploma level
courses that are a part of the student's program of study, including
Learning Support. The only exceptions are degree level courses
that have direct and specific correlation to required courses
in the student's diploma or certificate program. For example,
English 191 (degree level course) can be taken in place of English
101 (diploma level course), if approved by the institution. The
student must meet the cut-off scores required for the degree level
English or Math. The HOPE Grant will not cover degree level courses
used to fulfill general elective requirements for a certificate
or a diploma program.
- HOPE Scholarship
recipients must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average
for all coursework attempted and be making satisfactory academic
progress as defined by the college.
