Industrial Systems Technology Degree
The Industrial Systems Technology program is designed for the student who wishes to prepare for a career as an Industrial Systems technician/electrician. The program provides learning opportunities that introduce, develop and reinforce academic and technical knowledge, skill, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to retrain or upgrade present knowledge and skill. The Degree program teaches skills in Industrial Systems Technology providing background skills in several areas of industrial maintenance including electronics, industrial wiring, motors, controls, plc’s, instrumentation, fluidpower, mechanical, pumps and piping, and computers. Graduates of the program receive an Industrial Systems technology Degree that qualifies them for employment as industrial electricians or industrial systems technicians. This program is offered by the Industrial Systems Technology (IST) department.

Availibility
Students are accepted every quarter based on course and space availability. This program offers evening classes at the Oakwood Campus.
Requirements
  • Applicant must be at least 16 years of age.

  • High school diploma or GED is required prior to admission.
    Official transcripts or GED scores must be submitted from all colleges and/or high schools attended for credit.

  • Take the ASSET placement test or submit SAT, ACT, CPE or COMPASS test scores.
    All tests must have been taken within five (5) years of application for admission.

    Electrical Control Systems Diploma
    The Electrical Control Systems diploma program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students in the field of electrical control systems. Learning opportunities develop academic and professional knowledge, along with skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes specialized training in PLC's, electrical controls, and instrumentation. Graduates of the program receive an Electrical Control Systems diploma that qualifies them for employment as industrial electricians or industrial control technicians.     Industrial Electrician Certificate
    The Industrial Electrician program prepares students for employment using basic electrical maintenance skills. This certificate program will provide knowledge and skills in the occupational areas of industrial safety, direct current circuits, alternating current circuits, and industrial wiring. Graduates of this program will receive an Industrial Electrician certificate of credit. This program is offered by the Industrial Systems Technology (IST) department.

    Industrial Motor Control Technician Certificate
    The Industrial Motor Control Technician certificate is designed to offer industrial motor controls training. This program provides instruction in DC and AC motors, basic and advanced motor controls, and variable speed drives. Program graduates will receive an Industrial Motor Control Technician certificate of credit. This program is offered by the Industrial Systems Technology (IST) department.
