Healthcare Management Technology Degree

The Healthcare Management Technology program prepares students for a variety of positions in the healthcare environment. Graduates of the program generally work in positions such as office managers, departmental supervisors/managers, admissions coordinators, front office/clerical positions, medical billers/coders, and medical records clerks, and may work in hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices, long term care facilities, insurance companies, or managed care organizations. All of the courses are offered online, which provides an excellent opportunity for individuals currently working in the healthcare environment to upgrade their skills and knowledge. Graduates of the program receive a Healthcare Management Technology Associate of Applied Science degree.

Students are accepted every quarter based on course and space availability. This program offers day, evening, and online classes at the Oakwood campus. The core classes can be completed in class or online. The Healthcare Management classes are only available online. This program offers online classes at the Oakwood Campus.

Applicant must be at least 16 years of age.
High school diploma or GED is required
prior to admission.
Official transcripts or
GED scores must be submitted from all colleges
and/or high schools attended for credit.
Take the ASSET placement test or submit
SAT, ACT, CPE or COMPASS test scores.
All tests must have been
taken within five (5) years of application
for admission.

Medical Coding Specialist Certificate
|
|
|
The Medical Coding Specialist certificate of credit program provides specialized training in the Medical Assisting/Healthcare Management field. This certificate is recommended only for those individuals who are currently working in the healthcare environment and want to enhance their skills and knowledge base in Medical Coding. The program offers basic training in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, basic computer skills, word processing, ICD-9-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding. Graduates receive a Medical Coding Specialist certificate of credit.

Medical Coding is a highly specialized field. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to have experience in the healthcare field prior to admission into the Medical Coding Specialist certificate program.

|
|
|
The Health Care Science Certificate of Credit is a program that provides academic foundations at the degree level in communications, mathematics, and human relations, as well as technical fundamentals. Program graduates are trained in the underlying fundamentals of health care delivery and are well prepared for employment and subsequent upward mobility.

Additional Requirements
Students applying for Clinical Technology Degree, Health Care Management Degree, Surgical Technology Degree, and Radiologic Technology Degree will be initially admitted into the Healthcare Science Certificate program in order to complete the required developmental and/or core courses for their program of study. Prior to beginning clinical/internship courses, students must order and pay for a background check and meet background check screening requirements as required by the clinical facility. Cost is approximately $50.

The program provides a common core of general education and allied health courses. Program graduates will receive a Healthcare Assistant certificate of credit. This program is offered by the
