Lanier Technical College Offering Academic Summer Camp

Lanier Technical College (Forsyth Campus) is excited to be offering
a Summer Camp for late elementary, middle school and high school students!
The camp is being offered from June 27 to July 1st from 9:00 am to 12:00
pm (Session 1) and afternoon from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (Session 2). Classes
being offered include technology areas such as:
- Web Design- Create and design your own personal web page! Learn
basic components of web page design including text, images, and links
using Microsoft FrontPage. (Ages 12 -18)
- Computer Creation- Build a computer from scratch. What is RAM,
ROM, CPU, DIMM, CD R/W? You’ll become more confident with what
to look for when you buy a computer and when troubleshooting problems.
(Session 1: Ages 10–14, Session 2: Ages 15-18)
- Robotics- Build robots that you control using Lego components.
Learn to program them to do activities and play games. They do what
you tell them! (Ages 10-14)
- Basic Programming- Programming is a skill that seems difficult
and time consuming. There are many different programming languages out
there. We will learn a language called Leopard that will teach the fundamentals
of programming so you are ready to take on more complicated languages.
Students will learn how easy it is to create computer programs in Windows.
(Ages 10 – 14)
- Video Game Design- Students will explore the key concepts of
video game development using software called GameMaker. Learn how video
games are designed and planned. Create your own game to play. No programming
experience is required. (Ages – 10-16) ITT Technical Institute
is sponsoring this class. They offer a Bachelor Degree in Digital Entertainment
and Game Design in their Duluth location.
- Creative Design- Learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe
Illustrator. Design your own logos and learn how to manipulate photos.
Learn how to combine your skills in both programs for use in the visual
communications/printing industry. (Ages 12-18)
We also have other classes that teach students about...
- Decorating Design- Spend a week designing a bedroom makeover!
You will learn the fundamentals of interior decorating - color, basic
design, space planning, drawing techniques, interior finishes, manual
drafting, textiles, & lighting. (Ages 10-18)
- Babysitting Basics- This is a fun and exciting babysitting
course designed for the student who is planning on babysitting in the
future or is already a babysitter. Topics covered include: accident
prevention, CPR and First Aid; fire safety, baby & child care and
child protection. At the end of this class, each student will have a
reference notebook to consult and a goody bag full of fun ideas for
babysitting. (Ages 10 – 14)
- Car Care- How can I tell when my oil is low, and what other
maintenance do I need to worry about when I start driving? This course
will educate students about the basics of car care and maintenance.
Learn which tools are needed for different repairs and how to use them
safely. Get to know “your car” and learn to care for it!
(Ages 15-18)
Certified teachers and business professionals will be serving
as session instructors. Classes are $100 per session. This is an opportunity
to invite the next generation to explore different academic areas
while having fun in a camp environment. Please call 770-531-4500 for

on July 11th and begins at 8:30 am – 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm – 7:00
