STRIVE Award

Harry Chapman, Criminal Justice Instructor at the Oakwood campus, awarded the Spring 2006 STRIVE Award (STudents Recognition of Instructor in Virtual Education), presented by Dr. Moye, president of Lanier Technical College.
During the Winter 2006 quarter, Lanier Tech established the STRIVE Award (STudents Recognition of Instructors in Virtual Education).  The purpose of the program is to recognize online instructors with effective or innovative practices in online courses.  The instructors are nominated by their students via the end of quarter online course evaluation. 

We are proud to report that 29 instructors were nominated by their students.  From the nominations, we took into account the total number of votes received compared to the total number of students that were taught by each instructor.  Also considered was the average evaluation score received for each of the courses that were taught by each instructor.  Ultimately, one instructor came out on top, with 20% of his students nominating him.  And that instructor is Harry Chapman.

In recognition of his excellence in online instruction, Mr. Chapman received a 20” flat panel monitor (valued at $500) to be used in his classroom.
