October is National Fire Safety Month. Did you know that Lanier Technical College has one of the premier Fire Science Technology/EMT programs in the state?
The Firefighter/EMT diploma and Firefighter I and II certificate programs offer students the opportunity to receive firefighter training and complete national and state certification testing. Classes are scheduled at the Oakwood Campus in the evening with occasional Saturday sessions so that students can attend classes while they keep their current jobs.
These programs are conducted in association with fire departments in the Lanier Technical College’s service delivery area. The courses include classroom as well as hands-on fire and rescue training.
Successful completion of the program results in National Professional Qualification System (NPQ) Firefighter I and II certification. State of Georgia certification may be achieved as soon as the student becomes a paid or volunteer member of a fire department in Georgia.
Classes are forming now for January! For information on the Firefighter training programs, contact Howard Giles, hgiles@laniertech.edu or 770-531-6088. Ask about our next date for the Firefighter Orientation session.
