 Adjunct Welding and Joining Technology Instructor
  Qualifications

Lanier Technical College is conducting a search for the following part-time, non-benefit eligible, position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Three (3) years’ work experience in a position related to welding and joining technology
  • Ability to work flexible hours and teach at multiple campuses as needed
  • Must be able to teach all welding courses
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to work evening hours, teach at Oakwood campus
  • Skill to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to participate in appropriate staff development and campus activities
  • Ability to work well in the classroom and supervise students in laboratory settings
  • Ability to develop and evaluate lesson plans
  • Ability to direct and assess students' progress in achieving required competencies
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making and problem solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies):
  • Prefer an Associate's degree in closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Classroom and lab instruction at a post-secondary institution
  • Experience teaching face-to-face, online and hybrid classes
  • More than three (3) years of in-field work experience
  • Effective interpersonal communication and soft skills
  • Being bilingual is a plus


  Education Requirements

Technical diploma in Welding from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned


  Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Provides professional instruction based on approved course syllabus
  • Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives
  • Prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught
  • Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives
  • Administers and grades class examinations
  • Maintains records of student attendance and grades
  • Attends in-service training, workshops, and seminars, as needed
  • Maintains program certification requirements
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training areas
  • Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts, as needed
  • Meets with students, staff members, supervisors, as needed
