Radiologic Technology graduates 19 students in
2016 pinning ceremony
Lanier Tech’s Radiologic Technology Program proudly graduated 19 students at the 2016 pinning ceremony. The pinning ceremony, a tradition in healthcare education was held at North Georgia Heath Systems Walter’s Auditorium. The history of this right of passage can be traced all the way back to the Crusades of the 12th century.
Alex Fields and Crystal Alldread received the highest academic awards, and Justina Vega received the Student Clinical Award at Lanier Technical College's Radiologic Technology pinning ceremony, now in it’s 11th year.
Lanier Tech’s Radiologic Technology program has almost a 100% placement rate, and the graduates are in great demand in the healthcare imaging industry. The majority of the new professionals are hired by growing North Georgia Health Systems. NGHS also provides clinical sites for the students to hone their skills in the demand Radiologic Technology discipline, and NGHS donates space at their Lanier Park Facility to the College to house the Radiography Program.
The RT 2016 class also heard from Vanessa Rico, Class of 2007, and Cindy Allen, Class of 2013.
Several of the speakers noted that this graduation is the start of a wonderful and rewarding career, and that the Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology degree is in great demand in the marketplace.
A speaker also noted that the new professionals can use this profession as a stepping stone to advance into other areas of the medical imaging profession.
The new graduates were charged to “remember what it was like to be a student”; “give back, be a giver, not a taker”.
Congratulations to the RT Class of 2016!
