Dental Assisting students volunteer at
Operation Christmas Child Processing Center
Professional accreditation of Lanier Tech’s Dental Assisting Program requires that each DA student volunteer in their community. The Dental Assisting Instructors allow the student choose their own service. This year, as a class, the DA students chose to go to the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center and to help fill donated “Christmas shoeboxes” filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies before the gift boxes are sent outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, disease, and also to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
The Dental Assisting “elves” also made 11 shoeboxes to donate. The Atlanta processing center is currently at 950,000 shoeboxes, with a goal of 1.6 million shoeboxes of gifts.
