5.1.17lp1 Course Prerequisite Time Limits

Adopted: October 13, 2015
Scope: Students
Contact: Vice President of Academic Affairs

Courses taken for credit at Lanier Tech or accepted as transfer or exemption credit may be used to satisfy prerequisite or co-requisite requirements indefinitely. That is, course work does not "expire".

The Curriculum Committee may designate specific courses as exceptions, provided that:

  1. A programmatic accrediting agency requires that pre-requisite courses be taken within a certain timeframe, or
  2. Empirical data indicate a clear need for students to take pre-requisite within a certain span of years before enrolling in the course requiring the prerequisite

In no case shall the Curriculum Committee designate a time-frame less than seven years.
