Motorsports Students Take to the Track

September 24, 2021

Lanier Tech’s Motorsports Vehicle Technology (MVT) students received hands-on experience at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta during its 44th HSR Atlanta Fall Historic Races.

Drivers, crews, and twenty-nine students coexisted in the garage area of Road Atlanta as vehicles of various origins drove on and off the track. Four students used their skills to work on race cars for Comprent Motorsports while three others worked as Corner Marshalls for the nationally recognized 2.54-mile road course.

Students gained new knowledge about various types of vehicles not normally found in the Lanier Tech MVT classroom. They were encouraged to ask questions, meet with drivers, and to get hands-on proficiency with several of the cars.

We typically take a trip out to Road Atlanta at least once a semester. It gives the students practical experience with road course racing and a wide variety of different vehicle platforms.

said John Leverett, MVT Program Director

Lanier Tech is proud to have Road Atlanta as one of our industry partners. Their continued support of our program gives our students the experience they need to be successful in the motorsports industry.
